ABOUT

MISSION AND HISTORY - Belfast Child CIC
Belfast Child CIC has been supporting young people across Belfast since 2013. We started because we saw how much young people needed a safe, positive place to go—somewhere off the streets, where they could build confidence, learn new skills, and feel supported.
We offer a wide range of activities, including boot camps, boxercise, fitness sessions, martial arts, cooking classes, and nutrition workshops. Everything we do takes place in a friendly, welcoming environment where young people can feel safe, included, and encouraged.
But it’s not just about staying active. We help young people build self‑esteem, improve teamwork and communication, and develop the life skills they need for school, work, and everyday life. Our goal is simple: to help every young person believe in themselves and feel ready for a positive future
Community Training Academy
Creating Help In Local Districts (CHILD), trading as Community Training Academy, operates a multi‑sports and life‑skills training facility in Belfast City Centre. The Academy has developed into a central hub where youth groups and community organisations collaborate to support young people in enhancing their physical health, fitness, social development, and mental well‑being.
From the outset, we recognised the need for a safe, structured, and motivating environment where young people could access positive opportunities. Since officially opening in November 2015, the Academy has welcomed a significantly higher number of young people than originally anticipated. The impact on their confidence, lifestyle, and overall well‑being has been substantial, as demonstrated through the many testimonials we continue to receive.
“The Charity’s objects (“Objects”) are:
(1) The promotion of participation in healthy recreation in Belfast (the “area of benefit”) in particular by the provision of facilities for, and coaching, training and mentoring in, the playing of sports and other recreational activities.
(2) To act as a resource for young people by organising programmes of physical, educational and other activities as a means of advancing in life and helping young people by developing their skills and capacities and their mental, physical and moral capabilities through leisure time activities.

In 2015 and 2016 we were finalists of the Northern Social Enterprise Awards. It was great for the team to get recognition in the training and employment category. This doesn't make us complacent as it is not about the accolades, it's about making a difference.
